Junior Achievement Africa is one of Africa’s largest organizations working on youth economic empowerment. JA Africa is a member of JA Worldwide, one of the world’s largest youth-serving NGOs with the mission to prepare youth for the future of jobs through the delivery of hands-on, blended learning in financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship. JA empowers young people to grow their entrepreneurial ideas, hone their work skills, manage their earnings, and secure better lives for themselves, their families, and their communities.
JA Africa has a presence in 15 countries in sub-Saharan Africa and collectively we reach more than 240,000 youth each year. JA Africa Works in Botswana, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Mauritius, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Working in partnership with local ministries of education in each country to deliver programs in schools in almost 3,000 schools each year.
- Grand Prize: $1000 and Trip to Ghana
- Runner up: $800
- Digital Marketing Award: $500 and Facebook AD credits
- Category 1: Companies owned by JA alumni from any of the countries where JA works in Africa. This entrant category is only eligible for the First and Second place prizes (see prize details in competition guidelines).
- Category 2: Startup/early-stage companies (1-3years old) owned by any African youth between ages 16-30. This entrant category is only eligible for the Facebook Digital Marketing Prize (see prize details in competition guidelines).
