Deadline: 25 April 2019

In 2019, the Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship and the Dutch Centers for Entrepreneurship will organize #Cocreatemycity Lagos, a programme consisting of online seminars and a two-week study trip to Lagos in June for 30 Master students (15 Dutch and 15 Nigerian students).

#Cocreatemycity Lagos is about discovering innovative and feasible solutions for challenges the city of Lagos faces and maximizing the entrepreneurial potential of the participants. Next, to this, participants will get the opportunity to become familiar with a different culture, since all students will be working in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.

About the Program

Students who are selected to participate in the project will form teams and solve cases provided by the Nigerian government and companies. To prepare for this, students will follow 6 online seminars prior to the study trip. During the two-week study trip to Lagos, there will be visits to multiple Nigerian companies and governmental organizations who are currently developing solutions for challenges similar to the ones the participants will be working on. This will provide them with inspiration for their challenge, while introducing them to the Nigerian work culture. Participants will also get to see the challenges and opportunities for Lagos in real life. Besides the work visits, multiple workshops will be organized where the participants will learn about different aspects of entrepreneurship. The best part is that they will get the chance to apply their knowledge and newly obtained skills into practice right away. During the challenge, the students will be accompanied by experts from the government, knowledge institutions and the private sector. During the final event, which will be linked to the opening of Orange Corners Nigeria, all teams will present their solution and an expert jury will choose a winner.

  1. Master students from Lagos State University, University of Lagos, and Pan Atlantic University in Nigeria and the Netherlands can participate.
  2. If you are not a Master student, but you do have an entrepreneurial mindset, you can always apply and impress us with your motivation. You do not need a specific study background, as long as you are motivated to make a difference in Lagos and are motivated to contribute to solutions for the local challenges.
  3. Fifteen students from the Netherlands and fifteen students from Nigeria will be selected.
  4. You sign up individually, the teams will be formed after the final selection.

The programme in Lagos is to take place from 17-28 June 2019. The exact dates of the trip will be published soon (click here if you want to receive updates).
