Uade is currently the Head of Corporate Governance, Risk Management and Compliance of Sahara Group Limited and its affiliates with the overall responsibility for creating and implementing a governance framework and system towards ensuring smooth transition from a private company to a public company to be listed on Stock Exchanges in Nigeria, United Kingdom and Canada.
He is responsible for designing, implementing and managing the corporate governance requirements and monitors the organizations compliance in line with the Sahara Group business principles – People, Conduct, Society and Environment.
He joined Sahara Group Limited, an Oil, Gas and Energy Company in 2006, as a Senior Auditor in the Internal Audit Department and rose to become the Head of Internal Audit, Risk Management and Management Information System Departments in January 2009. He was responsible for the business process re-engineering for the Group and its affiliates. He was also responsible for the creation of an Enterprise Risk Management system and the Management Information Systems in the Group.
In January 2011, he was appointed as the Business Leader of the Group’s Warehousing and Logistics business as the Acting Managing Director a position he held till December 2012, before being reassigned to the Group to develop Sahara Group’s Corporate Governance System Framework and ensure full implementation of the Sahara Group’s business principles.
Prior to joining the Sahara Group, Uade commenced his working career as a Trainee Credit and Marketing Executive Officer with Prime Securities Limited in 1992, before moving on to Pinacle Commercial Bank Port Harcourt branch in 1993 as an Operations Officer, where he rose to become the head of the Cash and teller function of their Port-Harcourt branch.
He joined Security Swaps Limited a Stock Broking Firm in 1998 as the Accountant before moving back to core banking with Citizens International Bank in 1998, where he worked as Branch controller in 4 branches and the IT & systems control supervisor.
He had further banking stints with Assurance Bank Limited which he joined in 2003 and rose to become the Financial Controller and Oceanic Bank International Limited as Head of Cost Management and budgeting.
His career in Banking, Oil, Gas and Energy Sectors of the Economy spans over 25 Years.
Uade graduated with a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, the Society for Corporate Governance in and a fellow of the Institute of Credit Administrators of Nigeria.
Uade is married with 2 children and is an avid football fan.
Uade believes strongly in personal accountability and integrity at all levels of management. He also believes that there is tremendous untapped potential in Nigerian youths and as such has lent his support to talent development schemes like Sahara’s Graduate Management Trainee Program, RCCG Maryland Youth Career development program Choices as well as acting as a mentor to high fliers in the organization.
